Menstrual changes and discomfort

Breast ultrasound
Ultrasound assesses breast tissue and any changes. It can complement other breast examinations; a doctor selects the most appropriate tests.
Colposcopy
Colposcopy provides a magnified view of the cervix to assess changes, for example after an abnormal screening result. If needed, the doctor takes a small tissue sample for further analysis.
What happens at the appointment?
The appointment covers symptoms, your menstrual cycle, previous investigations and contraception. The doctor explains and performs examinations appropriate to the situation. Mention any possible pregnancy before tests or examinations.
How to prepare
Note the first day of your last period and any questions for the doctor. Bring previous examination and screening results. If ultrasound or tests are planned, confirm preparation with reception.
