Blood pressure and heart health risks

Electrocardiogram (ECG)
An ECG records the heart’s electrical activity and helps assess rhythm and impulse conduction. It provides different information from heart ultrasound, or echocardiography.
Holter monitoring
Holter monitoring records an ECG over a longer period during everyday activities. It helps assess rhythm disturbances that may not appear during a short ECG. Recordings of 24, 48 or 72 hours are available; the duration is chosen according to need.
What happens at the appointment?
The consultation covers symptoms, previous illnesses and current medication. The specialist assesses your health and available test results, explains the findings and agrees a plan for further investigations or treatment.
